Allye Energy
Powering Battery Energy Storage Innovation
Allye Energy replaced fuse and relay systems in its MAX battery storage units with CAN-connected Hardwire PDMs.
Allye Energy is a British clean-tech company delivering AI-powered battery energy storage systems (BESS) that address grid constraints for commercial and industrial users. Their MAX range of intelligent storage can run on-grid or off-grid. It features novel bi-directional battery control, grid-forming power and smart optimisation in a compact modular package built around second-use EV battery packs, for flexible, lower-carbon energy storage across a wide range of applications.
The challenge
Allye needed a modern replacement for the traditional fuse and relay systems in their MAX units. The goal was a simpler electrical architecture that kept the high reliability and precise control their independent battery architecture demands.
Key challenges included:
- Eliminating bulky fuse and relay setups that added complexity and maintenance overhead
- Supporting Allye’s independent battery architecture, where each pack operates in parallel on a common AC bus
- Integrating a system that communicates over CAN bus for real-time monitoring and diagnostics
- Precisely controlling multiple circuits within each battery module to optimise performance and safety

The Hardwire solution
Hardwire Electronics supplies Allye Energy with Power Distribution Modules that replace traditional fuses and relays with a fully electronic solution. They offer:
- Electronic circuit protection and control, with no physical fuses or relays
- CAN bus communication for real-time monitoring, diagnostics and integration with Allye’s smart battery management system
- Multi-circuit control, so Allye can manage several circuits within each battery module for better performance and safety
- A compact, modular design that simplifies installation and reduces wiring complexity
