Crafting a Modern GT40 Replica with Advanced Electrical Architecture

How Alisi Motors built a street-legal Ford GT40 replica around a single PDM25.

Based in Córdoba, Argentina, Alisi Motors is a specialist manufacturer with roots in top-tier motorsport, having built race cars for the TC2000 and Turismo Nacional series. Their latest project, the Miles GT, marks a shift toward bespoke, road-legal vehicles.

The Miles GT is a handcrafted replica of the Ford GT40 MK1, built on a tubular chassis with a lightweight fibreglass body. Powered by a fuel-injected Ford Windsor 302 stroked to 338 cu.in., it combines period-correct styling with modern usability. It has been named Argentina’s Handmade Car of the Year and is fully road-legal under national regulations.

The challenge

Turning a minimalist race car design into a road-legal vehicle meant adding modern electrical systems: indicators, hazard lights, horn, wipers, dashboard instrumentation and air conditioning.

The goal was to add these features without compromising the car’s classic design, while keeping the system robust, compact and practical for a low-volume, handcrafted build.

The Hardwire solution

The team made the Hardwire Electronics PDM25 the central control unit for the car’s electrical system. Mounted behind the dashboard, it replaces the traditional fuses and relays and manages every auxiliary function, giving a clean, compact installation with full control over all electrical outputs.

The wiring harness was engineered to a high motorsport standard:

  • Concentric-twisted construction to reduce size and improve packaging
  • DTM connectors throughout for reliability
  • Protection using braided sleeving, DR25 and thermal insulation
  • Modular layout to support efficient assembly

Flexibility in design

Because the PDM25 is software-configurable, every electrical function could be defined without complex hardware changes. Modern road-going features were added while keeping the architecture simple and adaptable.

Enhanced reliability

Removing traditional relays and fuses in favour of the PDM25’s solid-state design improves durability and cuts potential failure points. Combined with high-quality harness construction, the system is built to withstand heat, vibration and demanding environments.

Compact and clean integration

A single PDM and a tightly packaged harness make for a clean, space-efficient installation, which matters in a car where visual authenticity is key.

A new standard for handcrafted vehicles

The Miles GT shows how modern electrical systems can be built into classic vehicle design. With Hardwire Electronics PDM technology, Alisi Motors has created a platform that improves usability, reliability and performance, setting a new benchmark for handcrafted vehicles in Argentina.
